Description

This festive Christmas Crunch recipe combines the delightful crunch of freshly popped popcorn with the sweetness of white chocolate, colorful red and green M&Ms, crunchy pretzels, and cheerful holiday sprinkles. Easy to make and perfect for holiday gatherings, this treat offers a perfect balance of salty and sweet flavors that will please both kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Popcorn Mix

  • 1/2 cup (104g) popcorn kernels
  • 1 1/2 cups (75g) broken pretzel pieces or baby pretzels
  • 1 (10 oz) bag green and red Milk Chocolate or Mint M&Ms

White Chocolate Coating

  • 1 (12 oz) bag Vanilla Candy Melts (such as Wilton Candy Melts)

Decoration

  • Christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Pop the Popcorn: Use a popcorn popper to pop the popcorn kernels into a large bowl following the manufacturer’s instructions. Alternatively, use microwave popcorn bags for convenience. Be sure to remove any unpopped kernels to avoid unpleasant bites.
  2. Combine with Pretzels and M&Ms: Add the broken pretzel pieces and the green and red M&Ms to the freshly popped popcorn. Gently toss to mix the ingredients evenly without crushing the popcorn.
  3. Melt the White Chocolate: Place the Vanilla Candy Melts in a microwave-safe bowl and heat at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  4. Coat the Popcorn Mixture: Drizzle half of the melted white chocolate over the popcorn mixture, then gently fold and toss with a rubber spatula to coat most of the popcorn and mix-ins. Next, drizzle the remaining melted chocolate over the mixture and stir gently until evenly coated, careful not to over-stir to allow sprinkles to stick later.
  5. Add Sprinkles and Set: Spread the coated popcorn mixture in a single even layer onto wax paper. Immediately sprinkle the Christmas sprinkles evenly over the top before the white chocolate sets. Allow the mixture to cool completely so the chocolate hardens.
  6. Break and Store: Once hardened, gently break the popcorn into clusters or bite-sized pieces. Store the Christmas Crunch in an airtight container to keep it fresh and crunchy.

Notes

  • Ensure all unpopped kernels are removed before mixing to avoid choking hazards.
  • If Vanilla Candy Melts are unavailable, white chocolate chips or candy coating can be used as alternatives.
  • You can substitute pretzels with other crunchy snacks like crushed nuts for variation.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • For extra flavor, you can lightly toast the pretzels before mixing.
