Description

These Texas Roadhouse Rolls are a delicious and easy-to-make copycat recipe of the famous restaurant rolls. They’re soft, fluffy, and perfect for serving with cinnamon honey butter.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Texas Roadhouse Rolls:

  • 4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 cups milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 7 cups all-purpose flour, or up to 8 cups
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, for brushing

For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Activate Yeast: In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk together warm water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let stand for 10-15 minutes, or until foamy.
  • Make Dough: Add milk, melted butter, ½ cup sugar, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix with the dough hook for 1 minute. Gradually add flour, 2-3 cups at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead with the dough hook until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  • First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk.
  • Shape Rolls: Punch down dough and divide into 2 portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion to ½-inch thickness. Cut into squares or rectangles. Place rolls on greased baking sheets.
  • Second Rise: Let rolls rise until doubled in size. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) while the rolls are rising.
  • Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with melted butter immediately after removing from oven.
  • Make Cinnamon Honey Butter: While rolls are baking, whisk together softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon until smooth.

  • Serve: Serve warm rolls with cinnamon honey butter.

Notes

  • Milk: Make sure the milk is scalded and cooled to lukewarm for optimal yeast activation.
  • Rising: Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place.
  • Yield: This recipe makes about 30-35 rolls.
