Description

This Stuffed Crust Tortilla Pizza is a quick and delicious twist on traditional pizza, featuring a crispy tortilla wrapped around melted cheese sticks for an irresistibly gooey crust. Topped with savory pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, salami slices, and parmesan, this easy-to-make pizza is perfect for a fast lunch or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Base and Crust

  • 1 burrito-size flour tortilla (10 inches in diameter)
  • 2 mozzarella cheese sticks, halved lengthwise
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt

Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 9 small salami or pepperoni slices
  • 1 tablespoon shredded parmesan

Garnish

  • Grated parmesan cheese, for garnishing
  • Fresh basil, for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking the pizza to crispy perfection.
  2. Prepare the Baking Surface: Place a parchment-lined baking sheet or a pizza pan sprayed lightly with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Arrange Cheese Sticks: Slice each mozzarella cheese stick in half lengthwise, then place a cheese stick, sliced side down, on four opposite edges of the tortilla to prepare for stuffing the crust.
  4. Form the Stuffed Crust: Roll the edge of the tortilla up and slightly under each cheese stick, securing it with two toothpicks per cheese stick by pushing through the cheese and into the tortilla bottom, creating a square shape with cheese-filled edges.
  5. Add Sauce and Toppings: Spread the inside of the tortilla with pizza sauce evenly, sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top, arrange salami slices over the cheese, and finish with a sprinkle of shredded parmesan cheese.
  6. Brush with Garlic Butter: Mix melted butter with garlic salt and brush generously on the stuffed edges of the tortilla to enhance flavor and create a golden crust.
  7. Bake the Pizza: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese in the center is bubbling and melted.
  8. Cool and Remove Toothpicks: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes to set, then carefully remove the toothpicks securing the crust.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle grated parmesan and fresh chopped basil over the top, slice the pizza, and enjoy the delicious stuffed crust tortilla pizza.

Notes

  • Use burrito-size tortillas (around 10 inches) for proper size and structure.
  • Ensure toothpicks are removed before eating to avoid choking hazards.
  • Customize toppings with your preferred meats, veggies, or cheeses.
  • For a crispier crust, bake on a pizza stone or preheated baking steel if available.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in an oven or air fryer for best texture.
