Description

This Spooky Halloween Mocktail is a deliciously eerie and refreshing beverage perfect for festive occasions. Combining tart cherry juice, warming cinnamon syrup, and activated charcoal for a striking black color, this non-alcoholic drink delights with its mysterious appearance and layered flavors. Garnished with a lychee ‘eye’ stuffed with cherry jam and a blueberry, it’s both visually captivating and tasty—ideal for Halloween parties or themed gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Mocktail Base

  • ¾ cup tart cherry juice
  • ¾ ounce cinnamon syrup
  • 1 activated charcoal capsule
  • Ice (as needed)
  • Sparkling water (to top off)

Garnish

  • 1 lychee
  • 1 teaspoon cherry jam
  • 1 blueberry

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add the tart cherry juice, cinnamon syrup, and the powder from inside the activated charcoal capsule into a cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice.
  2. Shake the Mixture: Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously until the liquid is chilled to the touch. Shake a little longer than usual to help dissolve as much of the charcoal powder as possible for a smooth drink.
  3. Strain into Glass: Strain the chilled mocktail into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Prepare Garnish: Spoon the cherry jam into the hollow center of the lychee, then place a blueberry inside to resemble an eye.
  5. Finish and Serve: Add the lychee ‘eye’ garnish to the drink. Optionally, top off with a splash of sparkling water for some fizz. Serve immediately and enjoy your spooky creation.

Notes

  • Activated charcoal can interfere with certain medications; consult your doctor if needed before consuming.
  • For a sweeter drink, adjust the amount of cinnamon syrup to taste.
  • The lychee garnish adds a creepy yet elegant touch; fresh lychees work best for texture and flavor.
  • Chilling the glass beforehand enhances the drinking experience.
  • This mocktail can be scaled up for larger parties.
