Ingredients
Scale
Oreo Balls
- 40 Regular Oreo cookies, crushed into fine crumbs
- 6 ounces (¾ package) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup vanilla frosting
Coating & Decoration
- 12 ounces vanilla almond bark (1½ cups or 6 squares)
- 24 Rolo candies
- 12 mini Oreos
- Assorted sprinkles (black circular for eyes, orange nonpareil for nose, others for face decoration)
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Sheets: Line two sheet pans with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Mix Oreo Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the crushed Oreo crumbs, softened cream cheese, and vanilla frosting thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and uniformly combined.
- Form Balls: Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them evenly on one of the prepared sheet pans. Chill them in the freezer or refrigerator for 15 minutes to firm up.
- Melt Almond Bark: While chilling the Oreo balls, melt the vanilla almond bark using a double boiler or microwave, stirring occasionally until fully smooth and creamy.
- Dip Oreo Balls: Remove the chilled balls from the fridge, then dip each into the melted almond bark to fully coat. Place the coated balls back onto the parchment-lined sheet pan to set.
- Add Snowman Hats: Before the coating sets completely, decorate by placing half a mini Oreo on top of each ball to form the hat brim, then position a Rolo candy on top with the narrow side down to form the hat crown.
- Secure Decorations: Use extra melted almond bark as “glue” to stick the Rolo candy and mini Oreo together and ensure they adhere firmly to the Oreo ball base.
- Create Snowman Faces: Use assorted sprinkles to decorate faces on the snowmen. Typically, black circular sprinkles work for eyes and orange nonpareil sprinkles for the nose. Get creative with other sprinkle shapes for added personality.
- Chill and Set: Place the decorated Oreo balls in the refrigerator for about an hour to allow all the coatings and decorations to fully set and firm up.
- Serve: Once completely chilled, plate and serve the Melted Snowman Oreo Balls cold for best texture and taste.
Notes
- Storage: Store Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. For softer texture, store at room temperature for up to one week.
- Ingredient Substitutions: If you don’t have Rolo candies, use extra mini Oreos. If mini Oreos aren’t available, rely on Rolo candies alone for hat decoration.
- Sprinkle Selection: Choose sprinkles that can mimic snowman facial features—black circular sprinkles for eyes and orange nonpareils for the nose work best. Alternatively, use black and orange icing.
- Dipping Tip: Use a spoon to help dip the Oreo balls into the melted almond bark and lift them back onto the parchment paper smoothly.
- Decoration Adhesion: Dip the narrow part of the Rolo into melted almond bark before attaching it to the mini Oreo to ensure better sticking.
