Description

This Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Roast is an easy and flavorful recipe that’s perfect for a busy weeknight meal. The pork roast is cooked low and slow in a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce made with brown sugar, applesauce, and soy sauce, resulting in a tender and juicy roast that’s perfect for serving with rice and vegetables.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (4 lb) boneless pork roast
  • 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 cup applesauce (unsweetened recommended)
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Prepare Roast: Cut the pork roast in half, if needed, to fit in your slow cooker. Rub the roast with the brown sugar, ensuring it’s coated on all sides. Place the roast in the slow cooker.
  2. Add Sauce Ingredients: Pour the applesauce and soy sauce over the roast. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-6 ½ hours, or until the pork roast is fork-tender.
  4. Rest and Make Gravy: Remove the roast from the slow cooker, cover with foil, and let it rest for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, strain the cooking juices from the slow cooker into a saucepan.
  5. Thicken Gravy: In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan with the cooking juices. Cook over low heat for about 15 minutes, or until the gravy thickens, stirring occasionally with a whisk.
  6. Serve: Slice the pork roast and serve with white rice and the teriyaki gravy.

Notes

  • You can use bone-in or boneless pork roast for this recipe. Adjust the cooking time accordingly for bone-in roasts.
  • If you don’t have applesauce, you can substitute with apple juice or apple cider.
  • For a thicker gravy, use more cornstarch.
  • Serve with your favorite sides, such as steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a green salad.
