Description

This Red, White, and Blue Snack Mix is a delightful mix of sweet and crunchy treats perfect for patriotic celebrations or anytime snacking.


Ingredients

Red Candy Coating:

  • 1/2 cup red candy melts
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable shortening

Blue Candy Coating:

  • 1/2 cup blue candy melts
  • 2 Tbsp vegetable shortening

Coated Chex Mix:

  • 2 cups Rice Chex cereal divided
  • 6 Tbsp confectioners sugar divided

Additional Mix-ins:

  • 1/2 cup red, white & blue M&Ms
  • 1/2 cup yogurt covered raisins
  • 2 cups yogurt covered pretzels

Instructions

  1. Melt Red Candy Coating: In a double boiler or microwave, melt red candy melts and 1 tablespoon of shortening until smooth.
  2. Coat Chex Mix: Pour melted red candy over one cup of Rice Chex, coat with powdered sugar, and cool on paper.
  3. Melt Blue Candy Coating: Melt blue candy melts with shortening, then repeat coating process with the second cup of Chex.
  4. Assemble Snack Mix: Combine coated Chex with M&Ms, yogurt-covered raisins, and pretzels in a bowl.
  5. Finalize: Gently mix and store the snack mix in an airtight container.
