Dry Ingredients
- 1 & 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
Cheese and Wet Ingredients
- 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
Topping
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
- Pinch onion powder
- Pinch dried parsley
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan and Preheat
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×5 loaf pan with baking spray, ensuring all areas are coated evenly by using a pastry brush. Set aside. - Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined. - Add Cheese
Stir in the cheddar cheese, making sure it’s evenly coated with the flour mixture. Set aside. - Combine Wet Ingredients
In a small bowl, whisk together the whole milk and egg. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. It’s okay if there are a few dry spots. - Incorporate the Butter
Add the melted butter to the batter and mix until everything is well combined and there are no remaining dry patches. Be careful not to overmix. - Prepare for Baking
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top with a spatula. Place in the oven. - Bake
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Check the bread at the 35-minute mark to prevent over-browning. - Make the Topping
While the bread is baking, whisk together the melted butter, garlic powder, salt, onion powder, and dried parsley in a small bowl. Set aside. - Cool and Apply Topping
Place the baked bread (still in the loaf pan) on a wire rack to cool slightly. Immediately brush the top of the bread with the prepared topping. Let the bread cool for 5 minutes in the pan, then transfer it to the wire rack to cool completely. - Slice and Serve
Once cooled, slice the bread and serve. Enjoy this cheesy garlic bread warm for the best experience!
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread light and fluffy.
- Check the bread 5 minutes before the timer goes off to prevent over-browning.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Experiment by substituting cheddar cheese with other varieties such as Monterey Jack or mozzarella for a different flavor profile.
- Serve freshly baked bread warm for the ultimate cheesy experience.
