Description

This Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes Crescent Ring is a fun and flavorful twist on two classic comfort foods. This recipe combines the savory goodness of a Philly cheesesteak with the saucy deliciousness of sloppy joes, all baked into a beautiful crescent roll ring. It’s an easy and satisfying meal that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 5 slices provolone cheese, cut in half
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent rolls

Instructions

  1. Brown Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Remove the beef from the pan and drain any excess grease.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper and sauté until softened.
  3. Return Beef and Make Sauce: Add the cooked ground beef back to the skillet with the vegetables. In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth and cornstarch until smooth. Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and the cornstarch mixture to the skillet.
  4. Simmer: Cook the mixture for 3-5 minutes, or until the sauce thickens and is about 80% liquid remaining.
  5. Assemble Crescent Ring: On a large pizza pan or baking sheet, arrange the crescent rolls in a ring shape, with the wide ends of the triangles in the center and the points overlapping. Press the seams together to seal.
  6. Fill and Bake: Spoon the Philly cheesesteak mixture evenly over the crescent roll base. Top with the provolone cheese slices. Fold the pointed ends of the crescent rolls over the filling to enclose the ring. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for the ground beef.
  • Add other vegetables like mushrooms or sliced peppers for extra flavor and texture.
  • For a cheesier filling, use more provolone or add another type of cheese like cheddar or mozzarella.
  • Serve with your favorite sides, such as french fries, potato salad, or a green salad.
