Description

A delicious and easy-to-make Pear Grilled Cheese sandwich combining the sweetness of fresh pear slices with gooey melted cheese between buttery toasted bread slices, perfect for a comforting snack or light meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 2 slices cheese (such as mozzarella, cheddar, pepper jack, colby jack, Monterey jack, or brie)
  • 1/2 pear, cored and sliced (peeled if desired)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pear: Core and slice the pear into thin pieces. Peel the pear if you prefer a smoother texture in your sandwich.
  2. Butter the bread: Spread butter evenly on the outsides of both slices of bread to ensure a golden brown and crispy crust when grilled.
  3. Assemble the sandwich: On the unbuttered side of one bread slice, layer one slice of cheese, followed by the pear slices, and then the second slice of cheese. Top with the other slice of bread, keeping the buttered side facing outward. Layering the pear between cheese slices helps hold the pear in place and melts the cheese nicely around it.
  4. Grill the sandwich: Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich in the skillet. Grill until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt, about 3-4 minutes. Flip the sandwich carefully and grill the second side until it is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted, about another 3-4 minutes.
  5. Rest and serve: Remove the grilled cheese sandwich from the skillet and let it rest for about one minute to allow the cheese to set slightly. Cut the sandwich in half and serve warm.

Notes

  • Cheese: Use any good melting cheese like mozzarella, cheddar, pepper jack, colby jack, Monterey jack, or brie for best results.
  • Bread: Rye, sourdough, white, whole wheat, or French bread varieties all work well for grilled cheese sandwiches.
  • Cooking Tip: Cooking over medium heat ensures the cheese melts thoroughly without burning the bread.
