Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 16ounce bag mini pretzel twists
  • 1 1/2 cups butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare Baking Dish:
    1. Set aside 2 cups of pretzels for the topping.
    2. Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with aluminum foil, allowing the ends to overhang so you can easily lift the bars out.
  2. Crush Pretzels:
    1. Using a food processor, add the remaining pretzels and pulse until you have fine crumbs.
  3. Make Pretzel Crust:
    1. In a large bowl, combine the pretzel crumbs, melted butter, peanut butter, and powdered sugar.
    2. Mix until everything is well combined.
    3. Press the mixture into the prepared baking dish and flatten it using your hand or a spoon.
  4. Melt Chocolate:
    1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of butter.
    2. Melt in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
  5. Assemble Bars:
    1. Spread the melted chocolate over the pretzel crust layer, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
    2. Break up the reserved 2 cups of pretzels and sprinkle them over the chocolate layer.
    3. Lightly press the pretzels into the chocolate so they adhere better.
  6. Chill:
    1. Cover the baking dish and refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until the chocolate has set.
  7. Cut and Serve:
    1. Remove the foil from the dish and lift the bars out.
    2. Cut the bars into your desired size and serve.

Notes

  • Use a good quality creamy peanut butter for the best flavor.
  • For a richer chocolate layer, use dark chocolate chips or a combination of semi-sweet and dark chocolate.
  • You can use a different type of pretzel, such as rods or sticks, if you prefer.
  • Adjust the amount of powdered sugar to your sweetness preference.
  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
