- 1 1/2 cups butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Dish:
- Set aside 2 cups of pretzels for the topping.
- Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with aluminum foil, allowing the ends to overhang so you can easily lift the bars out.
- Crush Pretzels:
- Using a food processor, add the remaining pretzels and pulse until you have fine crumbs.
- Make Pretzel Crust:
- In a large bowl, combine the pretzel crumbs, melted butter, peanut butter, and powdered sugar.
- Mix until everything is well combined.
- Press the mixture into the prepared baking dish and flatten it using your hand or a spoon.
- Melt Chocolate:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Melt in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
- Assemble Bars:
- Spread the melted chocolate over the pretzel crust layer, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.
- Break up the reserved 2 cups of pretzels and sprinkle them over the chocolate layer.
- Lightly press the pretzels into the chocolate so they adhere better.
- Chill:
- Cover the baking dish and refrigerate for about 1 hour, or until the chocolate has set.
- Cut and Serve:
- Remove the foil from the dish and lift the bars out.
- Cut the bars into your desired size and serve.
Notes
- Use a good quality creamy peanut butter for the best flavor.
- For a richer chocolate layer, use dark chocolate chips or a combination of semi-sweet and dark chocolate.
- You can use a different type of pretzel, such as rods or sticks, if you prefer.
- Adjust the amount of powdered sugar to your sweetness preference.
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
