- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup half & half
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Prepare Egg Mixture: Add 3 large eggs, ½ cup half & half, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon to a medium bowl and whisk until well combined.
- Heat Skillet and Butter: Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add 2 tablespoons unsalted butter to the skillet, starting with 1 tablespoon, and let it melt.
- Dredge and Cook: Dredge 12 Hawaiian rolls one at a time in the egg mixture and place them in the butter. Cook for about 1 minute per side, until golden brown. Continue with the remaining roll slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
- Serve: Dust the French toast with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries and maple syrup or coconut buttermilk syrup.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of half & half.
- You can use other types of sweet rolls or brioche bread.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom to the egg mixture.
- Keep the cooked French toast warm in a low oven while you finish cooking the rest.
