Description

This Hawaiian Roll French Toast takes a classic breakfast favorite to a whole new level of deliciousness. The sweet, fluffy Hawaiian rolls soak up a rich cinnamon-spiced egg mixture and are cooked to golden perfection. Serve with your favorite toppings like powdered sugar, fresh berries, and maple syrup for a delightful breakfast or brunch treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup half & half
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare Egg Mixture: Add 3 large eggs, ½ cup half & half, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon to a medium bowl and whisk until well combined.
  2. Heat Skillet and Butter: Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add 2 tablespoons unsalted butter to the skillet, starting with 1 tablespoon, and let it melt.
  3. Dredge and Cook: Dredge 12 Hawaiian rolls one at a time in the egg mixture and place them in the butter. Cook for about 1 minute per side, until golden brown. Continue with the remaining roll slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.
  4. Serve: Dust the French toast with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries and maple syrup or coconut buttermilk syrup.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use heavy cream instead of half & half.
  • You can use other types of sweet rolls or brioche bread.
  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom to the egg mixture.
  • Keep the cooked French toast warm in a low oven while you finish cooking the rest.
