Ingredients

Scale

Turkey Burger Patties

  • 1 pound ground turkey (94% lean preferred)
  • 1 shallot, finely grated
  • 1 garlic clove, finely grated
  • 2 tablespoons seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • Splash of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 egg white, lightly beaten
  • Olive oil for cooking (about 1 teaspoon)
  • 4 to 6 burger buns of your choice
  • Lettuce leaves for assembling
  • Quick pickled onions (optional)

Quick Guacamole

  • 1 avocado, chopped
  • 1 handful cherry tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Turkey Mixture: Place the ground turkey in a large bowl. Add the finely grated shallot and garlic, followed by seasoned bread crumbs, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Splash in a drop or so of Worcestershire sauce. Add the lightly beaten egg white. Using clean hands, gently mix all ingredients together until just combined, being careful not to overmix to keep the patties tender.
  2. Form Patties: Shape the turkey mixture into 4 to 6 evenly sized patties according to your preference. Ensure they are compact but not overly tight.
  3. Cook Burgers: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of olive oil. Once hot, place the patties in the skillet. Cook each side for about 5 minutes, or until they develop a brown crust and the internal temperature reaches between 175°F to 180°F. This ensures the turkey is fully cooked and juicy. Remove burgers and let them rest for 10 minutes to redistribute juices.
  4. Make Quick Guacamole: Chop the avocado into chunks. Mash half of it with a fork, leaving the other half cubed for texture. Mix in the chopped cherry tomatoes, cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Assemble Burgers: Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun. Add the rested turkey burger patty on top. Spoon a generous amount of the quick guacamole over the burger. If desired, add quick pickled onions for added tang and crunch. Top with the bun and serve immediately.

Notes

  • To prevent burgers from drying out, avoid overmixing the meat mixture and monitor internal temperature carefully.
  • You can use any buns you prefer—brioche, whole wheat, or gluten-free options work well.
  • Quick pickled onions add a nice tangy contrast but are optional.
  • Leftover turkey patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
  • Adjust the spice levels by adding chili powder or fresh jalapeños to the turkey mixture if you like more heat.
