Description

These festive Grinch Pretzel Rods combine salty pretzels, chewy caramel, and creamy green-tinted white chocolate for a delightful holiday treat. Finished with green sugar sprinkles and candy hearts, they make a fun and colorful snack perfect for holiday parties or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale

Core Treats

  • 8 pretzel rods
  • 8 soft Werther’s caramel chews, unwrapped

Chocolate Coating

  • 1½ cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 6 drops green food coloring

Decoration

  • 8 candy hearts or large heart sprinkles
  • 3 tablespoons green sugar sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare Caramel Wraps: Roll each soft caramel chew between your hands or on a table until it extends approximately 6 inches long.
  2. Wrap Pretzel Rods: Beginning at the top of each pretzel rod, wrap the elongated caramel chew downward, leaving about an inch at the bottom unwrapped. Press the caramel ends gently into the pretzel to secure; if room temperature is warm, place wrapped rods on a non-stick surface until ready for chocolate coating.
  3. Melt White Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine white chocolate chips with vegetable oil, tossing to coat. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth, taking care to avoid overheating which can cause chunkiness.
  4. Color the Chocolate: Stir 6 drops of green food coloring into the melted white chocolate, adjusting the amount as needed until reaching the desired festive green shade.
  5. Coat Pretzel Rods: Using a spoon, generously drizzle and spread the green-colored chocolate over the caramel-wrapped portion of each pretzel rod from about an inch from the base to the tip, ensuring an even, smooth coating. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  6. Decorate: Place coated rods on parchment paper. Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle green sugar sprinkles over the surface and gently press one red candy heart between the caramel swirls on each pretzel rod.
  7. Set the Chocolate: Refrigerate the decorated pretzel rods for about 10 minutes to allow the chocolate coating to harden completely. Once firm, they are ready to serve or store.

Notes

  • Storage: Keep Grinch Caramel Twist Pretzels at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 24 hours or refrigerated for up to 3 weeks.
  • Chocolate Melting Tip: Avoid overheating the white chocolate to prevent it becoming chunky.
  • Food Coloring: The quantity of green food coloring may vary by brand and desired shade; add incrementally to reach perfect color.
