- 1 package (15.5 oz) Oreo cookies, crushed (with filling)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 3/4 cups milk (any variety)
- 2 boxes (3.4 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1 (12 oz) container Cool Whip, thawed
- 1 cup pastel M&M’s, for garnish
- 20 PEEP marshmallows, for garnish
Instructions
- Cream Cheese Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Set aside.
- Prepare Pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and instant chocolate pudding mix until smooth and no lumps remain.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour the pudding mixture into the cream cheese mixture and beat until well combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold in the thawed Cool Whip until evenly distributed.
- Assemble: In a 13×9 inch dish, layer half of the crushed Oreos on the bottom. Top with the chocolate pudding mixture, spreading evenly. Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos over the top to create the “dirt.”
- Chill: Refrigerate the dirt cake for at least 2 hours to allow it to set.
- Garnish and Serve: When ready to serve, sprinkle the top of the cake with pastel M&M’s candies and add one PEEP marshmallow to each serving.
Notes
- You can substitute instant vanilla pudding mix for the chocolate pudding mix if desired.
- For a more elegant presentation, assemble the dirt cake in a trifle bowl. Layer half of the filling, followed by half of the Oreos, and repeat the layers.
- This cake can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
