Description

These Chocolate Dipped Heart Rice Krispies Treats are a delightful and festive Valentine’s Day dessert. Crispy and chewy rice cereal treats are cut into charming heart shapes and half-dipped in creamy white chocolate, optionally tinted pink for a fun and romantic touch. Perfect for sharing with loved ones or gifting, these treats are easy to make and sure to bring smiles.

Ingredients

Scale

Rice Krispies Treats

  • 3 Tablespoons of Butter
  • 1 Package of Marshmallows (10 oz., about 40 regular-sized or 4 cups mini marshmallows)
  • 56 Cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Cereal

Chocolate Dip

  • 1 Package of White Chocolate Wafers
  • Pink Food Coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth. Remove the pan from the heat to prevent burning.
  2. Add Rice Krispies Cereal: Immediately add 5 to 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir well until all the cereal is thoroughly coated with the marshmallow mixture, ensuring an even consistency.
  3. Press into Pan and Cool: Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, evenly press the mixture into a 13x9x2-inch pan that has been coated with cooking spray. Press firmly to compact the treats. Allow the mixture to cool completely so it sets and holds together.
  4. Cut into Hearts: Once cooled and firm, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the rice crispy treats into heart shapes. Place the cut-out hearts onto a plate or tray for dipping.
  5. Melt White Chocolate: Place the white chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat them in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth. If desired, stir in a few drops of pink food coloring to tint the chocolate.
  6. Dip the Treats: Dip each rice crispy heart halfway into the melted white chocolate. Allow excess chocolate to drip off before placing the treats onto wax paper to set.
  7. Set and Serve: Let the dipped treats sit on the wax paper at room temperature for about 15 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened. Once set, serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use mini marshmallows for faster melting and easier mixing.
  • Ensure the pan and spatula are lightly greased or sprayed to prevent sticking.
  • For a fun variation, use colored marshmallows or add sprinkles to the chocolate before it sets.
  • Store treats at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • If desired, you can use semi-sweet or milk chocolate instead of white chocolate for dipping.
