For the Taquitos
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 (1 oz) packet taco seasoning
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup salsa
- 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
- 8 flour tortillas, or corn tortillas (for taquitos)
Optional Toppings
- Salsa
- Tomatillo Avocado Salsa
- Homemade Pico de Gallo
- Sour Cream
- Guacamole
- Queso
- Cilantro
Instructions
- Preheat oven or air fryer: Preheat your oven to 375°F or your air fryer to 350°F, depending on your preferred cooking method.
- Cook the beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula until fully browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Add seasoning: Stir in the taco seasoning until well combined with the beef.
- Add cream cheese, sour cream, and salsa: Mix in the cream cheese, sour cream, and salsa, stirring until everything is melted and heated through. Add the shredded cheese and remove from heat.
- Prepare tortillas: If tortillas are too stiff, microwave them for 10 seconds to soften.
- Assemble flautas: Place two heaping tablespoons of the filling on one side of each tortilla, then tightly roll it up. Place seam-side down on a baking sheet or appropriate tray.
- Cooking: For oven baking, brush rolled flautas with oil and bake for about 15 minutes until crispy. For air frying, place in the air fryer and cook at 350°F for 3-4 minutes until golden and crispy. For pan frying, add oil to a skillet and fry each flauta on all sides until golden brown and crispy, then drain on paper towels.
- Serve: Serve hot, topped with your favorite toppings like salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or cilantro.
Notes
- You can use corn tortillas as a gluten-free alternative.
- For extra crispiness, brush the rolled flautas with a little oil before baking or frying.
- Ensure to let the flautas rest briefly after cooking to maintain crispness.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven or air fryer for best results.
