Description

These Caribbean Spice Chicken Wings are a flavorful and crispy appetizer or main course that’s perfect for any occasion. The wings are coated in a vibrant blend of spices and cooked to perfection in the air fryer, resulting in a juicy and tender inside with a satisfyingly crispy exterior.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Chicken:

  • 1 kg chicken wing nibbles (approximately 18 pieces)
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley leaves, finely chopped

Caribbean Spice Seasoning:

  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper or chili powder

Instructions

  1. Combine Spices: In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients for the Caribbean spice seasoning.
  2. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (356°F). Optionally, line the air fryer basket with baking paper to catch any drips.
  3. Prepare Chicken: Pat the chicken wing nibbles dry with paper towels. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle the Caribbean spice seasoning over the chicken and toss again to ensure all pieces are well coated.
  4. Air Fry: Arrange the chicken nibbles in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10 minutes at 190°C (374°F), then increase the temperature to 210°C (410°F) and cook for another 10 minutes, or until the chicken is crispy and cooked through.
  5. Serve: Remove the chicken wings from the air fryer and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce (such as aioli), a side salad, or stovetop rice.

Notes

  • This recipe uses a spice blend inspired by Caribbean flavors, but it is not a traditional Caribbean jerk seasoning.
  • For those who prefer more heat, increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add a pinch of allspice.
  • Adjust the cooking time depending on the size of your chicken wings and your air fryer model.
  • Leftover chicken wings can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer or oven.
