Description

This Breakfast Stromboli is a fun and delicious way to start your day. Refrigerated pizza dough is stuffed with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, breakfast sausage, bacon, and green onions, then baked to golden perfection. It’s a hearty and satisfying breakfast that’s perfect for feeding a crowd or enjoying a special morning treat.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 (13.8-ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 pound breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 green onions, sliced thin
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Scramble Eggs: Scramble 6 large eggs in a large skillet until they are mostly cooked but still a bit runny.
  3. Prepare Dough: Roll out and stretch 1 (13.8-ounce) can refrigerated pizza dough on a piece of parchment paper.
  4. Layer Fillings: Spread 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese evenly in the top half of the dough, leaving about an inch empty on either end. Top the cheese with the scrambled eggs, ½ pound cooked breakfast sausage, ½ cup cooked bacon, and 2 sliced green onions.
  5. Roll and Seal: Roll up the dough tightly like a cinnamon roll and pinch the ends and the seam together well. Transfer the parchment paper with the stromboli to a baking sheet.
  6. Prepare Egg Wash: In a small bowl, combine 1 large egg with a tablespoon or two of water to make an egg wash.
  7. Brush and Season: Flip the dough over so it is seam-side down in the center of the baking sheet. Brush the egg wash over the top of the stromboli. Sprinkle the top with ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning and ¼ teaspoon garlic powder.
  8. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  9. Serve: Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can use other types of cheese, such as mozzarella or pepper jack.
  • Add other breakfast ingredients like diced bell peppers, mushrooms, or spinach.
  • For a spicier stromboli, add a dash of red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
  • You can prepare the fillings ahead of time to save time in the morning.
  • Serve with a side of salsa, sour cream, or hot sauce for dipping.
