Description

This Ambrosia Salad is a classic and refreshing dessert salad that’s perfect for potlucks, holidays, or any special occasion. It features a delightful combination of sweet fruits, fluffy marshmallows, and creamy whipped topping, all tossed together in a light and airy mixture.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/2 cup maraschino cherries, drained and halved
  • 11 oz can mandarin oranges, drained
  • 20 oz can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 2 cups sweetened flaked coconut
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 8 oz container whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  1. Prep Fruit: Gently chop the maraschino cherries in half, being careful not to crush them. Drain the mandarin oranges and pineapple chunks, reserving a small amount of the juice if desired for extra sweetness.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the halved cherries, drained mandarin oranges, drained pineapple chunks, flaked coconut, and mini marshmallows.
  3. Fold in Whipped Topping: Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until it’s evenly distributed throughout the salad.
  4. Chill and Serve: Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the salad to chill. Serve cold.

Notes

  • Fruit: You can use fresh or canned fruit for this salad. If using fresh fruit, make sure it’s ripe and juicy.
  • Variations:
    • Add other fruits, such as grapes, strawberries, or bananas.
    • Use a different type of whipped topping, such as flavored whipped cream.
    • Add chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts, for extra crunch.
  • Make Ahead: This salad can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
